Oh come on KREM
SPOKANE — When the weather starts to change, bears aren’t the only creatures looking to hibernate in a safe warm place. Spiders, wasps, and rodents are also trying to set up camp, possibly in your home.
Point Pest Control workers tell us they haven’t seen as many bugs as are out this year in quite some time, especially on the north side of Spokane.

The bugs try to move into your home to set up a nest in a warmer environment.
Point Pest Control experts say one female spider can lay up to three egg sacks, and in those sacks, they can have up to 100 offspring.
Things to look out for in your home include funnel shaped webs, which can be found in colder basements and outside around your home.
The experts say the spider’s goal isn’t to bite you, but if you reach your hand in the wrong place, it’s not uncommon to get nipped.
Pointe Pest Control says they have a four step process to protect your home. Click the link above to get in contact with them.
I know times are hard, but now we’re to covert advertising for PEST CONTROL? The comments at the bottom of the story are pretty hilarious, too.
Excitement
Fall is in the air in Spokane. It literally is because we’re supposed to have high winds all night tonight. Sounds like fun to me! Has anybody been looking up at the sky at night? The moon is bright, but also very bright is Jupiter, which (depending on the night) is to the east or west of the moon. If you look at it though binoculars, you can see it’s moons. Pretty cool stuff if you have the chance to look at it.
QUICK EDIT: Terrain was last night. Obviously, the Spovangelist (Mariah McKay) covered it. Also, notice the amazing trend of not stating her involvement in the project continue! It all plays into the hype-machine this woman has created.
I would love to at least see a post saying that she was personally involved in the project, so keep that in mind when you read the “review” on the Spovangelist. Seems somewhat akin to writing a book, then being the one to review it in the New York Times book review.
Disclaimer: I’m not even against “Terrain”. Actually, I think its cool that stuff like this is happening in Spokane. James Pants, a good guy to hear, was playing at the event.
Envision Spokane, Again
So, to touch on Envision Spokane once again. A brain dump:
The Inlander put up a fantastic (and balanced!) article about Envision Spokane. This has probably been the most informative article on the subject that has come out yet.
A couple points I thought of as I was reading it:
1) Envision Spokane, why the HELL did you try to kick out the Inlander from your board meeting? You have almost no publicity outside of the negative. The Cowles have donated to the vote no prop. 4 campaign. You know that the S-R is only going to give you bad press. So, when the most fair media in the area comes to your board meeting, you try to kick them out? Good job.
2) It was said in the article that some role-playing was happening at said board meeting. The board members were working to come up with answers to basic questions about the Community Bill of Rights. The Inlander reported that some of the BOARD MEMBERS were stammering when confronted by basic questions about Prop. 4. Not a good thing. Perhaps you shouldn’t have tried to kick out the reporter at the beginning of the meeting?
3) The article spent a lot of time talking about the fact that the city has no ability to pay for any of the services that would be created (ie, healthcare for the entire uninsured population of the city). This is a big deal, methinks. If the city is going to be 7 million dollars in the hole in 2010, then how are they going to make up that gap, plus insuring a lot of people? In fact, if I were the average Spokane citizen (hah), I this might put me in the anti-prop. 4 column.
Now, I have to say, I think some aspects of Envision Spokane are good – like giving some more power to neighborhood councils. I just can’t get past the fact that they are dismissing the system, and that they are biting off way more than they can chew.
Unemployment
One of the advantages of ongoing unemployment in the Spokane is becoming very aware of the seasons. I am SO looking forward to a fall bike ride or two. I’m getting pretty tired of these 90 degree days in September, especially when I can look out my window and see the leaves changing color.
I think the biggest disadvantage of not working is making money. As much as I hate doing it, you kind of need to. Back to the search.
Insane Killers Are Everywhere
So, as some may have heard, an insane patient at Eastern State Hospital was allowed to go to the Spokane County Fair this weekend. He then promptly hoofed it when he had the chance.
Now I know why I don’t go to the fair any more.
More interesting than the actual event itself was waiting for the national media to pick up on it. Yesterday evening, CNN.com had this story as No. 1. In the article, neither Spokane (proper) or Goldendale were mentioned. I guess that is a good thing.
Envision Spokane
Just judging by signage around Spokane, I would say this has little to know community support. More on this later.
This blog…
…is going to be a project of mine. A response to other blogs and media outlets in Spokane. I will take things as seriously as I can. We will see how that goes!
